The Three Amigos

After teaching for three years it was time for a new adventure. History nerd, nature enthusiast and a thirst for travel (13 countries and counting) has led me to take a break from teaching and explore the unknown.

I’ve always told my students that the best way to travel and see the world is through education. I took my first trip to Europe in college as an exchange student. I lived in Olomouc, CZ for three months studying history and language. Having a strong Czech heritage, it was love at first site. On top of the planned field trips, I was also fortunate enough to have a lot of free time to travel, and I fell in love with it.  The people, the different life styles..ahh! and the food and drink! Every day you step through another door a new adventure awaits.

I was so happy to be able to share my passion for travel with Abby. We took a two week vacation a few years ago, back to some of my favorite places and of course a few new. We returned to the US and set out for a new plan: to save up money for a long term trip abroad.

We worked in Kansas for three years, saving most of our paychecks while also having enough to take long road trips to see friends and family or spend time exploring the states around us. When we decided it was time to leave and go overseas, I again used education to help me travel. After teaching ESOL/TEFL for three years, I decided to pursue a job teaching in Prague to help carry our duration in Europe even longer.

Abby and I cannot wait to share our travel experiences with Emily, and look forward to showing you a glimpse as well!

-na zdraví!

I’ve been living in Lincoln, Nebraska for almost 8 years now, working at an awesome job for 5 of those years, and I’m just ready for a new experience. When my sister and Caleb told me they were going to Europe I started thinking about what I really wanted to be doing at this point in my life. Most people my age want to get married and start a family, I am not in that category of people. After lots of thinking, and no invite from them, I decided I wanted to go too! Luckily they were on board, or so they say. I’ve always wanted to travel, other than to North and South Dakota, and what better time to go than with two of my best friends. Who both, by the way, have perks of their own. Caleb, who has been to Europe a couple times and is a history nerd, will be our own personal tour guide. Abby on the other hand, will be my own personal stylist and do my makeup and hair when I actually feel like looking nice(not quite sure if she’s on board with this one either). And my perk to them will be ruining all of their romantic moments.

Traveling is all I’ve ever really wanted to do and this trip has been years in the making for me. I’ve been talking about traveling Europe since I was a little kid and its surreal that its actually happening. Caleb and I have always had the mutual love of traveling and have been talking about an extended trip to Europe for years. After completing school Caleb and I had the plan to work in Kansas for about 3 years in order to save up money for our trip as well as get some good job experience and pay off student loans. Its been 3 years and now here we are. I feel lucky to be finally doing what I feel like I’ve been working towards my whole life with two of my favorite people.
